The French call it “French quart d’heure”. Fifteen minutes of delay that are socially acceptable when you’re given an appointment. As for me, I would need a few “French years”. Decades have passed, but I still dream of having missed a class, guilt gnawing at me in my sleep as I try to justify my absence to the ghosts of my teachers.
